Welcome to my first blog post and my attempt to post 1x a week for 2014. As the title may have it, I believe in the purity of food. A delicious meal is often confused with a mashing of food stuffs in the form of a recipe. I believe that ruins the ability to truly experience and learn about food and will hinder you reaching that gratifying food zen we all crave. With that being said, there will be absolutely no recipes on the blog, I want you to go out and practice. However, I will talk a lot about food properties and cooking techniques for the common home. One day you will have the abilities to tell your friends that you have no recipes for that creation.
A little about me. I learned to cook at the age of 12 watching my family and emulated them. I began working in a restaurant at the age of 14 until I was 18. During that time, I watched the chefs a lot while waiting for food to be prepared for service. I experiment a lot with different ingredients and try to recreate everything I eat sans recipe. I have followed a recipe 0 times in my life. I taste test everything before I serve it. In my free time I watch a lot of food network and food TV. I have no idea what I'm doing a majority of the time but learn on the spot.
Topics that I will cover include:
- Repurposing food
- Thinking outside of the box with your cooking
- Combining uncommon ingredients to achieve balance
- How to make that restaurant fare in your own kitchen
- Ingredient highlighting
- Food Art
I hope that you continue to follow and learn about food in its pure natural form and achieve gluttony through enlightenment.
